Very well-written. You should shop this article to Salon.com. Seriously, it's better than half the stuff they publish every day.

Thank you for your post on sales as a spiritual practice. I normally wouldn't have put Mother Theresa and sales together. The way you and Carol put it though it makes sense. She was passionate, focused on who she was helping and gave her donors an emotional stake in a much larger mission than herself.

Thank you for showing us how we can we can use in our own businesses.

Pat,
I love the statement while on vacation "you’re more receptive to the quieter, more profound messages from your heart and soul." Why not let yourself think about work once in awhile during this receptive state? Besides, if you are doing what is congruent with your spirit, then your work is a part of the complete you.
Nice post!

This is great. I posted something similar about Undercover Boss earlier this week: http://blog.spiritdriving.com/review-of-undercover-boss/. I like your thorough review and 7 practices. Although it isn't being marketed as a spiritual show, I think it has a lot of potential to bring spirituality at work to the forefront.

A few thoughts:
1. My husband and I have a rule- no phone calls while we are at dinner (in or out of the house.) It is about respect and caring.
2.When you are with someone, it is important to be *with* that someone.
3. Awareness of the world requires kindness toward self and others. Have we forgotten what it means to be kind?
4. I for one will retweet the message by @indranislight - "Get off the phone and play with your kids."

Thanks for the thoughtful post, Pat!

it is so easy to for technology to encroach on our lives. I think we have all been in situations where we have let an incoming phone take a higher priority than our our children, me included. Sometimes we just need to regroup and set a new path for how we want to behave.
About 6 months ago, I made a pact with my 12 year-old daughter that I wouldn't make or recieve calls when I was in the car with her. It took a few days of really resisting the urge to dial the phone, but since then, it's been great for for both of us.

Yes, put down the phone -- better yet, give it a "time out" every so often.

I, as a trainer for 35 years are really trying to see through the weeds spiritually in a corporation in Dallas my husband and I are advising and training. There are many born again Christians in the company, it's Dallas, Then some Hindus, some spiritual but not religious. No one talks much about it except to make it clear the Christians don't want too much new age anything. We have had to be very careful, the owners are more open to personal development as well as respecting the diversity of the company. We have had to be impecable and walk a very narrow line around all of this, couching all of it as good business practices that make coming to work more fun. We do a lot of team building and communication and trust work, feeling that allows us to talk about creating a new culture. I would love to hear any one else's experience with all of this, River Jameson
